RaajjeTV journalists barred from covering PPM rally once again
Most of roads blocked for rally

Armed officers of MNDF active

Journalists of RaajjeTV were banned from covering the Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) rally held in Rumaalu2 campaign house.

The rally was televised live on national television as an event President Abdullah Yameen took part in.

Most of roads leading to the campaign house were closed off and participants of the rally were screened using metal detectors. Security was evidently high on President Yameen’s mind, given the increased number of armed officers of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) active in the areas.

RaajjeTV journalist, cameramen and photographer were banned from entering the campaign house.

The rally is the first one held after the opposition filed a motion in Supreme Court, asking for a ruling to relieve President Abdullah Yameen from his position and to handover state powers to Vice President Abdullah Jihad.
