Vilimale' Constituency MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has fired back at the opposition over the impeachment motion filed on President Abdullah Yameen.
Firing back on twitter, MP Nihan said it would be better for the opposition to focus on other issues in the society. He also questioned how those who had evaded their prison sentences could hope to file and carry out a case in Supreme Court to impeach President Yameen.
The Parliamentarian called on the opposition to refrain from personal grudges and to show a single candidate for 2018.
The opposition filed a motion in Supreme Court on Sunday, citing that President Abdullah Yameen’s theft and corruption and to handover powers of state to his Vice President Abdullah Jihad.
The case was filed quoting clause 100 (a) (1) of the Constitution, which states that any action that does not befit the standing and stature and responsibility of the President or Vice President, then the Parliament can file a motion to dismiss that individual from the position.
