Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has accused the defence force of neglecting to provide his family with security.
He made the accusations in a tweet on Saturday night after police searched his house.
In the tweet, the opposition leader cited the law requiring the defence force to provide security to former presidents and their families.
He then asked why the police are being allowed to enter his house at anytime and ‘endanger’ him and his family.
Police on Saturday searched Gayoom’s house in relation to a court warrant for the arrest of his son MP faris Maumoon over allegations of planning to overthrow the government.
