Police near former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s home at Endherimaage
Police officers have left to search former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s home at Endherimaage, said his daughter, Yumna Maumoon.
Yumna said this in tweet on Saturday, during a search of MP Faris Maumoon’s home at Snow Rose.
RaajjeMV understands that the area around Gayoom’s home has now been cordoned-off.
Police have not disclosed why Gayoom’s residence is being searched, but the court document which authorized the search of MP Faris’ home states that it was to gather evidence following allegations that the lawmaker was planning to overthrow the government.
Faris was released last Thursday following six months in police custody over bribery charges.
He has been arrested again on Saturday.
