Police investigates MP Faris for 'conspiring to overthrow government'
The court warrant claims he is conspiring with other lawmakers to overthrow the government
The court’s official document states that officers are authorized to search properties owned and used by the parliamentarian
The search warrant was issued as early as 4:00 AM on Saturday by a Criminal Court judge

The court warrant authorizing the police’s search of MP Faris Maumoon’s home in Malé City has to do with allegations of ‘conspiring to overthrow the government’.

The court’s official document states that officers are authorized to search properties owned and used by the parliamentarian as part of their investigation against Faris for allegedly conspiring with other parliamentarians to overthrow the government.

The search warrant is signed by Judge Hussein Shaheed, who was recently appointed to the Criminal Court, in the early hours of Saturday, at 4:00 AM.

While the court order only allows for the search of Faris’ properties, a post sent out on Twitter by President Abdulla Yameen’s spokesperson states that an arrest warrant has been issued.
