Faris was arrested on July 18th

Reports surfaced on Saturday that law enforcement is seeking an order to arrest MP Faris Maumoon, who was released from incarceration just this week.

Police refused to divulge any information on the matter.

Faris was released on Thursday after 191 days in police custody over bribery allegations for which he was remanded until sentencing.

Faris is accused of, among other charges, attempting to sway a vote of no-confidence against parliament speaker Abdulla Maseeh through bribery.

The judge on Thursday ruled that the Maldives Correctional Services had not provided the parliamentarian with adequate resources to build up his legal defense and meet his lawyers.

Faris was arrested on July 18th from his home in capital city Malé, and remanded the following day.
