The accident occurred between the ‘Villa Dhuveli 31’ and 'Sharaf'
'Villa Dhuveli 31' had been carrying a total of 31 individuals and 'Sharaf' had three people on board

The Maldives National Defence Force has assisted two vessels involved in an accident on Wednesday.

The incident was reported to authorities at about 19:00 and the military’s maritime rescue coordination center had dispatched its ‘Harbour Craft 115’.

The accident occurred between the ‘Villa Dhuveli 31’, which left Malé to the Paradise Island Resort, and ‘Sharaf’, a vessel travelling to the capital city from Kuda Bandos Resort.

The latter vessel had been carrying a total of 31 individuals, 2 female passengers and 26 male ones, in addition to its crew. None of them had been injured.

However, a member of the Villa Dhuveli 31’s crew had injured his arm in the accident and has now been treated at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.

The accident occured off the western coast of Dhoonidhoo island in Kaafu Atoll.
