Crackdown on Opposition
Opposition says police have court order to search MDP office and Kunooz
MDP said they had received information of a court order to search
Will not find anything illegal, says JP

Joint parties have claimed that the Maldives Police Service (MPS) obtained a court order to search offices of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and Jumhooree Party (JP).

No official statement have been released from authorities over the issue.

MDP Secretary General Anas Abdul Sattar reported that they had credible information of such a court order. This, he said, was carried out against laws and with the clear intention of halting opposition activities.

The JP's secteray-general Ahmed Sameer said that even if 'Kunooz is searched multiple times', they would not be able to find anything illegal there. He added that MPS had searched Kunooz previously as well, having discovered nothing.
