The courts have released L Mundoo Council Adam Nasif after his arrest following an alleged assault on a woman.

Nasif and a 19-year-old male was arrested on January 8 under a court order.

The police media officer told RaajjeMV that the 19-year-old is still in jail for further investigations.

The alleged victim of the assault was treated for a head wound at Gan Regional Hospital and has since been released.

Witnesses reported seeing the victim arguing with Nasif’s wife outside the island’s magistrate court, where the wife works, prior to the alleged assault.

The victim was also seen in a heated argument with Nasif himself, and she had later barged into the island council and banged on the door of Nasif’s office. A police complaint was filed of her intrusion into the council.
