First Lady hands out cash to 'special needs' children in Kulhudhuffushi

First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim has attended a parent-student conference held at Afeefuddeen School in Kulhudhuffushi island, where she handed envelopes containing cash.

The conference was held especially for special needs children, and the first lady’s staff had distributed envelopes that carried MVR 1,500 (just short of USD 100) to each student and their parent.

First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim’s charitable Sadaqat Foundation has previously handed out similar forms of aid.

The foundation also provides aid for bone marrow transplants, which was previously done by the government itself and last year launched its initiative to host circumcision, a religious practice in Islam, for locals alongside the national health insurance Aasandha.
