Pres Yameen might skew election result: MDP
Ali Niyaz said votes will be placed on ballot boxes, as opposed to electronic voting
Niyaz claims to have evidence of EC's previous attempts to skew results
The opposition will be training people to monitor the ballots

Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has said they are preparing for the possibility that President Abdulla Yameen might skew this year’s presidential election result.

Speaking on RaajjeTV’s Fala Surukhee on Monday night, MDP Vice Chairperson Ali Niyaz said that citizens will vote in ballot boxes, and the votes will be counted in front of them.

He said this in response to the government’s decision to establish an electronic voting system for the election.

Niyaz said they already have evidence of the Elections Commission (EC) previous attempts to skew results, and so the opposition is preparing for EC’s future plan based on past experience.

He said the opposition will be training people to monitor the ballots, and explained that the EC had previously used fake IDs to skew the results.
