MP Ali Hussain receives court summons

The State has charged 12 lawmakers for allegedly breaking into parliament grounds

Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain has received a summons to the Criminal Court.

MP Hussain is to be summoned to court on January 16, Tuesday.

Opposition Jumhoree Party (JP) posted a photo of MP Hussain on Twitter, after he received the summons at the party office.

The state has charged 12 MPs for allegedly breaking into the parliament grounds when it was closed.

The MPs are:

01. Hinnavaru MP Ibrahim Mohamed Salih (MDP’s Parliamentary Group Leader)

02. Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz (JP’s deputy leader)

03. North Henveiru MP Abdulla Shahid (former Speaker of Parliament)

04. North Hithadhoo MP Mohamed Aslam

05. South Henveiru MP Mohamed Abdul Kareem

06. West Maafannu MP Mohamed Falah

07. Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain

08. Central Hithadhoo MP Ibrahim Didi

09. Nolhivaram MP Hussain Areef

10. Villingili MP Saud Hussain

11. Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim

12. Maduvvari MP Mohamed Ameeth

If found guilty, they will face jail sentences of up to four months and 24 days.

I want to see a day that those who obstructed MPs entering parliament house to discharge their duties to be tried & punished for breaking the constitution.
