The European Union delegation currently in the country has met former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
In a tweet posted following the meeting, President Maumoon said that discussions of the meeting had centered on current political climate, ensuring free, fair and transparent elections. He had thanked EU Ambassador and team for their keen interest in the Maldives.

The mission is led by External Action Service (EEAS) Deputy Managing Director for Asia Department, Paola Pampaloni, accompanied by the Head of the EU Delegation to the Maldives, Tung-Lai Margue, and the EEAS Head of Division for South Asia, Caroline Vinot.
The delegation will be in the Maldives until Monday.
