State insurance provider, Aasandha, has stated that the corporation will no longer fund for cancer treatments abroad.
Speaking to RaajjeMV Aasandha media official reported that the decision was taken after Hulhumale’ Hospital began providing cancer treatment.
The official further noted that Aasandha will be provided for those patients that need to seek treatment abroad, for medical treatments unavailable in the Maldives.
Funding for cancer treatments abroad ceased after Hulhumale’ Hospital opened their oncology wing in October.
Up until September 2017, the corporation had provided 1,100 patients with funds to seek cancer treatment abroad, Aasandha added.
