The Sri Lankan vessel found near Shaviyani atoll

A fishing vessel from Sri Lanka was found capsized in Maldives’ waters.

The vessel was discovered near Shaviyani Atoll.

Information officer for Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Captain Ibrahim Azim reported that the vessel was discovered 73 miles off of Shaviyani Atoll. The vessel is a 30-foot one and the Captain added that no one was on board.

The vessel was reported by ‘Manfaa’ boat from Maduvvari island in Raa Atoll, at around 1.15pm on Thursday.

Captain Azim added that officers from MNDF North Area Command were active in the area.
