West Park to be sold off for MVR 1.4 mil, without any bidding

Tourism Ministry has announced that the area that previously housed West Park Restaurant is to be sold off for a price of MVR 1.4 million, without any bidding.
The area measures 19,343 square feet and the entire area is to be sold off for MVR 1,450,730. This amounts to MVR 75 per square feet. This is the rate applicable to sell off areas in Capital Male’ and the Atoll, for tourism related purposes.
The area was previously under the management of Yatch Tours. The Government had abruptly canceled the lease agreement made with the company. Yatch Tours had filed the case in Civil Court. Both Civil and High Courts ruled in favor of the state.
This is the second time the area was put for sale. The announcement for the sale was put on the gazette on Thursday.
A campaign office for the ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) was created in the lot adjacent to the area.
