2018 Presidential Elections
2018 elections will not free, fair: MP Mahloof
Pres. Yameen may attempt to delay elections
Govt. will be forced to hold elections
Will defeat Pres. Yameen by 90 percent of votes

Galolhu South Constituency MP Ahmed Mahloof has stated that he did not believe the 2018 Presidential elections can be free and fair.

Speaking to RaajjeTV from Colombo, Sri Lanka, MP Mahloof said that in the event leaders of all political parties are able to contest in the elections, then the opposition will defeat President Yameen with 90 percent of the vote.

He warned that President Yameen will seek to take all measures possible not to hold elections, adding that next year’s elections will not be free or fair.

MP Mahloof added that the work of the opposition will force President Yameen to hold elections. In spite of this, he said the Government will attempt to falsify the results.

The results of this year’s Local Council Elections was a sign of this, MP Mahloof said. However, he warned that if President Yameen was to pursue this avenue, then it would be a mistake with far reaching consequences.
