Island Aviation Service (IAS) has denied rumors that action was taken on pilots in connection to the leaked audio.

Speaking to press, IAS said the company strictly adheres to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Maldives Civil Aviation Authority rules and regulations. As such, IAS said they did not authorize or force pilots to operate additional flights and had not over booked the schedule. It added that as these aspects were closely monitored by regulatory authorities there was no way for the company to violate these procedures.

IAS added that around 150 pilots were presently with the carrier and that there were no complaints.

As such, IAS said they had a system to address any issues and complaints and had always welcomed suggestions and criticism. No such complaint was issued with the company.

As per new regulations of Maldives Civil Aviation Authority, pilots have to rest for a period of 48 hours after seven working days. However, IAS said they had amended their internal regulations so that pilots can rest for 48 hours after six working days.

In a leaked audio clip, a pilot with the airline had complained that the head of flight operations refused to listen to their complaints of poor working conditions and lengthy working hours. Following the leaks, rumors had surfaced that the said pilot was suspended.
