The Civil Court has ordered Medhufushi Investments to pay USD 2.6 million as outstanding rent payment in a case put forth by state’s revenue authority.

The case involves a reported breach of lease agreement made by Medhufushi Investments, which operates the Medhufushi island resort, to rent out the island.

The sum includes fines imposed by the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority, and the company has been asked to make the payment in full within a period of three months.

MIRA had filed to acquire USD 3.6 million from the company, but the figure was reduced at the authority’s behest.
