Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Muizzu is representing Maldives at the extraordinary OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) summit on Al-Quds.

The summit is being held in Turkey’s capital city Istanbul on Wednesday, and a total of 57 Islamic nations participated in it.

The summit was called on by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is also chair of the OIC. ‘Al-Quds’ is the Arabic name for Jerusalem.

The summit discussed the declaration of Jerusalem to be Israel’s capital and the United States’ backing of it, having shifted its embassy there from Tel Aviv.
