This year’s edition of Twitsal, the footballing tournament for Maldives’ twitter community, has begun.

This year, 12 teams with 120 players will contest, including four female teams.

All teams in the tournament are named after their respective sponsors. This year teams are sponsored by Sandwich Baa, Chizzpa, Mooshan, Alfa Marine, Leaf Pvt Ltd, Yonder, ISSO, Profitness, Chaps Reserved, Toddy, Ripe Juice and Hassan Marine.

In addition to the tournament, this year, a CSR initiative under the banner of ‘Twitsal Cares’ was also launched. This year the initiative will seek to help special needs students with Care Society.

Dhiraagu signed in as the main sponsor of the initiative.

The tournament was first held in 2009.

This year’s Twitsal is being played in Turf 2 of Maafannu Stadium until midnight.
