Both 21-year-old Ahmed Hanim and 18-year-old Fathimath Sama are believed to have died of 'drowning'

Police have refused to divulge any details of their investigation into the deaths of two young individuals in Hulhumalé in September.

An official from the police said that those arrested in relation to the case are facing a total of 12 criminal allegations, including possession of illicit drugs.

However, they have refused to provide details of the allegations and conclusive results of the deaths as well as the substances found.

Police had apprehended three men and a female, revealing that officers found ‘party drugs’ near the location where one of the deaths had occurred.

The arrested individuals were associates of the deceased, who were both pronounced dead after being brought to the Hulhumalé Hospital on the night of September 28th.

21-year-old Ahmed Hanim was brought to the hospital in Hulhumalé along with another young man. Local news outlets report that both men had been victims of water inhalation.

Hanim had reportedly been dead at the time of his arrival at the hospital.

Shortly after, 18-year-old Fathimath Sama was brought in by police officers. Doctors confirmed that she had passed away before her arrival at the hospital as well.
