Small amendment set for Monday's Parliament session
Only a small amendment set for today’s session
Additional 45 security staff to be used in Parliament
Opposition MPs say drastic changes to Speaker table

A small amendment had been tabled for Monday’s session of the Parliament.

Monday’s sitting of the Parliament will be the first sitting of the last session of this year.

The item for Monday concerns an amendment to Clause 207 of the Parliament laws, which concerns on developing better relations with international organizations and Parliaments.

The Parliamentarians will debate on the report and vote.

Praliament sessions are starting later than the date set in the Parliament laws. Laws dictate that the last siting of the Parliament for the year must be held on the first Monday of October.

The final sitting of the Parliament for the year begins amid heightened security, with the number of security personnel raised to 45.

Generally, around eight officers are in charge of security in the Parliament. However, with the recent disturbances in the Parliament, more officers had been deployed in security measures. Most of the officers were active on the Parliament floor.

A stage had been erected for Speaker Abdullah Maseeh for the new sessions. MNDF had been constructing the stage, as witnessed by several journalists of RaajjeTV. It is unclear how high the stage is, though the opposition MPs have claimed the stage is a 10 foot one.

In this session, the Parliament will deliberate on the national budget for next year and pass it.
