Bhutan beats Maldives’ national team in the match played to kick-off the Under-18 SAFF Championship.
The championship’s host country beat Maldives with a score of 1-0.
Both teams presented a commendable game as ball possession was even throughout the first half. While the Maldivian team maintained a good defence, Bhutan had managed to acquire an opportunity to score, which missed the net and hit the goal post.
The first half ended in a tie.
In the second half, by fault of the Maldivian team’s defence, Bhutan’s Ugyen Wangchul managed to score his team’s first and only goal on the 53rd minute of the match.
Maldives is competing against Nepal, India, and Bangladesh as well. The team will play their second match on September 20th, against Bangladesh.
The Maldivian team comprises of Ali Shamwaal, Azzaam Abdulla, Hussein Faisal, and Ishaq Rasheed on defence, mid-fielders Hussein Mohamed Zihaan, Nisham Mohamed, and Abdulla Faisal, and forwards Shinan Ibrahim, Mohamed Jailam, and Ahmed Tholaal.
