The Criminal Court has scheduled MP Ibrahim Mohamed Didi’s hearing over terror allegations against him for Monday.

The hearing has been scheduled for 14:00. MP Didi, who represents the Hithadhoo constituency, is being accused of unlawfully detaining Judge Abdulla Mohamed.

The last hearing for the case was held on September 6th, where MP Didi’s lawyers had asked former Prosecutor General Muhuthaz Muhusin to be summoned for his testimony.

Didi’s defence intends to prove that state prosecutors had previously waved all charged against him.

In 2015, the Prosecutor General withdrew terrorism charges against the MP. However, the office had renewed allegations against the opposition aligned parliamentarian.

Prosecution and defence exchanged documents and went through discovery on the 22nd of August.

The renewal of charges came after the opposition filed a no-confidence motion against parliament speaker Abdulla Maseeh.
