Defense Ministry Leaks
No support from Armed Forces to carry out Govt. dictat: Aslam

Learned a lot from leaked defense audios

Laid siege to Parliament following loss of majority

Former Housing Minister Mohamed Aslam has stated that the Armed Forces will not support any and all activities the Government carries out to stay in power.

He made the statement referring to the audio leaks from Defense Ministry on RaajjeTV’s ‘Fala Surukhee’ program.

Aslam said that laying siege to the Parliament following the loss of super majority, showed that the Government was desperate. Additionally, he said the officers of the MNDF and MPS are now aware that their actions on that day are errors, noting that even the Govenrment was aware of this.

Aslam said the leaked audios from Defense Ministry was proof of this. He noted that Minister Adam Shareef advising those officers was evidence that those officers had grave doubts over their involvement. Aslam added that much had been learned from the leaked audios. The fact the audio was leaked, he said, was evidence that there were elements within the Armed Forces that will not heed just any orders.

Aslam added that officers of the Armed Forces were molded differently during their training and service and as such they cannot be abused for political purposes.

He said the events of the past days showed that the Government had deeply erred.
