The Maldivian Government has spent MVR 12 billion on PSIP by 28 December 2023

The Maldivian Government has spent MVR 12 billion on Public Sector Investment Programs (PSIP), by 28 December 2023.

According to the statistics publicized by the Ministry of Finance, the highest expenditure was made on projects related to the transport sector and road development and land reclamation projects.

As such, the state has so far spent MVR 3.26 billion on the transport sector; with MVR 1.7 billion spent on airport development projects, MVR 1.1 billion spent on harbor development projects and MVR 757.3 million was spent on bridge development projects.

By 28 December 2023, MVR 3.5 billion was spent on road development and land reclamation projects. As such, the state spent MVR 2.1 billion on land reclamation projects and MVR 1.4 billion on road development projects.

The government has spent MVR 1.5 billion on water and sewerage development projects. This includes MVR 1.3 billion on installation of water and sewerage systems in islands, MVR 176.3 million spent on water systems and MVR 76.7 million spent on sewerage system installation.

Ministry's statistics show that MVR 922.1 million has been spent on housing and infrastructure projects.

The government has so far spent MVR 903.5 million on environmental protection projects with MVR 240.1 spent on coastal protection projects, MVR 271 million spent on waste management projects, MVR 26.4 million spent on water drainage systems and MVR 365.9 million spent on renewable energy projects.

The statistics go on to reveal that MVR 546.7 million has been spent on the education sector.

Statistics also show that MVR 407 million was spent on the social and religious services with MVR 241.3 million spent on sports development projects, MVR 80.9 million spent on social sector projects and MVR 84.6 million spent on mosques.

Furthermore, MVR 395.1 million was spent on health sector development projects and MVR 108.8 million has been spent on Fisheries and Agriculture projects.

Statistics show that the state has spent MVR 158.6 million on National Security and Public Order. As such, MVR 84.5 million was spent on police, MVR 37.3 million on court buildings, MVR 19.7 million on penitentiary, MVR 11.7 million on customs and MVR 5.5 million on rehabilitation.

Additionally, MVR 116.4 million has been spent on general administration projects, with MVR 77.3 million spent on office construction and MVR 39.1 million spent on development of councils.

The Maldivian Government's expenditure currently sits at MVR 48.9 billion according to the Finance Ministry statistics and the government revenue is at MVR 31.8 billion.
