President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, has stated that he believes Presidential system is ideal for the Maldives.
He made this statement while speaking at a presser held the President's Office on Monday.
Speaking at the presser, the President stated that the public should decide on the form of government, although it is debatable if this is the right time to do so.
President Solih also stated that MDP will discuss the matter and announce its decision.
However, President Solih said that in his own opinion, the presidential system is the best for Maldives.
The Parliament has approved to hold a referendum to decide a system of government in the Maldives.
Stating that the commission is ready to hold the referendum to decide the system of government in the Maldives, the Elections Commission noted that they still have some legal clarifications to make, which they have shared with the parliament.
