Thimarafushi Constituency MP Mohamed Musthafa has resigned from ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM), after having failed to get booted from the Party after he had carried out multiple infractions of Party laws.
MP Musthafa said that he had regularly flouted Party decisions, as he had from the onset realized the Party’s direction was against what was most beneficial for the nation.
As such, he said he had voted against the three-line whips issued by the Party for the sake of the citizens and nation.
MP Musthafa is one of the many high-profile defections from ruling PPM.
