The Maldivian Government has spent MVR 4.2 billion on Public Sector Investment Programs (PSIP), by 11 May 2023.
According to the statistics publicized by the Ministry of Finance, the highest expenditure was made on projects related to the transport sector. As such, the state has so far spent MVR 1.3 billion on this sector; with MVR 487.6 million spent on airport development projects and MVR 449.4 million spent on harbor development projects during this time frame. MVR 390.9 million has been spent on bridge development projects.
Additionally, MVR 1.07 billion has been spent on road development and land reclamation projects. As such, the state has so far spent MVR 538.9 million on land reclamation projects and MVR 533.1 million on road development projects.
Ministry's statistics show that MVR 338.6 million has been spent on housing and infrastructure projects.
Additionally, MVR 64.9 million has been spent on general administration projects.
The government has spent MVR 671.9 million on water and sewerage development projects. This includes MVR 535.8 million on installation of water and sewerage systems in islands, MVR 78.7 million spent on water systems and MVR 57.5 million spent on sewerage system installation.
Ministry's statistics goes on to reveal that MVR 191.5 million has been spent on the education sector.
While MVR 139.1 million has been spent on coastal protection projects, MVR 33.7 million was spent on waste management projects.
Statistics also shows that MVR 155.5 million was spent on the social and religious services. As such, MVR 25.8 million has been spent on mosques.
Furthermore, MVR 51.6 million was spent on health sector development projects.
The Maldivian Government's expenditure currently sits at MVR 17.4 billion according to the Finance Ministry.
