The Dhivehi Raajjeyge Gulhun (Dhiraagu) has been licensed by the central bank to provide mobile money services.
The Maldives Monetary Authority had reportedly granted it the license last week, and Dhiraagu announced that it would integrate the service into an application called ‘Dhiraagu Pay’.
The license was conferred at the Maldives Financial Expo 2017, held over the weekend at Dharubaaruge. It was handed over by the central bank’s governor Azeema Adam and accepted by Dhiraagu’s CEO Ismail Rasheed.
‘Dhiraagu Pay’ will allow the telecommunication provider’s customers to transfer money through their mobile phones and even make payments through it.
