Corruption charges raised against the Parlaimentarian
Dhiggaru Constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon
Dhiggaru Constituency MP and one of the leaders of the opposition movement, Ahmed Faris Maumoon has called on the Government to ‘try to be a bit more creative’, adding that the ‘show is becoming boring’.
While the Parliamentarian had not directly referred to any particular instance, the post, issued via snapchat, came after Maldives Police Service held a press conference claiming they had enough prosecutorial evidence against the Parliamentarian on bribery charges.
The post was captioned off with his bitmoji, depicting the Parliamentarian with a bag of dollars.
This is not the first time corruption allegations had been raised against MP Faris over the vote of no confidence on Parliament Speaker Abdullah Maseeh.
While the Government had made corruption allegations MP Faris and launched an investigation into it, the said authorities had failed to investigate MPs who had on record admitted to having distributed bribes.
