Meeting comes at a time when opposition is planning to oust Speaker
President Yameen with senior figures of PPM
Chief Advisor of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) President Abdullah Yameen has met with senior figures of the Party late on Saturday.
The Party’s Parliamentary Group Leader and Vilimale’ Constituency MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik had tweeted the photo of this meeting. However, no other details of the meeting had been made public.
In the meeting, held in PPM premises, Deputy Leaders Moosa Zameer, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Secretary General Abdullah Khaleel and PG Deputy Leader Ibrahim Falaah were present, in addition to Nihan.
Many had expressed their sentiments on the look of concern President Yameen had on his face during the meeting.
The meeting came amid claims made by the opposition that a no confidence motion on Parliament Speaker Abdullah Maseeh will be submitted to Parliament once it reconvenes following the Eid holidays. The motion had been supported by some PPM MPs publicly.
