Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested a Maldivian man who was earlier reported missing, in connection with a suspected murder case.
The man arrested is, Mohamed Nizam, (45yo), native to Thinadoo Island of Gaafu Dhaal Atoll.
Nizam was reported missing on 28 December, 2022, along with a Bangladeshi native, Mohamed Liton (35yo).
MPS says that Nizam was arrested under a court order, in relation to a murder case. He was arrested on 03 January, 2023.
MPS found Nizam hiding in a guest house in Hulhumale . The authority says that he is in good health.
However, Liton still remains missing.
Nizam and Liton went missing on a fuel barge, after departing from Vilimale’. While the barge was found near Hulhule' on 29 December, 2022, neither of the two men were onboard.
