Maldives to ‘soon see better picture’ says MP Mahloof
MP Ahmed Mahloof called out to opposition supporters to remain steadfast
Mahloof talked about the ongoing Anti-Corruption Commission investigation into former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom
He said that incumbent President Abdulla Yameen is severely threatened by ex-President Maumoon

The opposition’s reform work has garnered landmark support and the nation will ‘soon see a better picture’ said MP Ahmed Mahloof.

Mahloof, who was released after having served consecutive jail sentences on obstruction charges earlier this month, told RaajjeTV that more parliamentarians are to align themselves with the joint-party opposition cause.

While he had not specified further as to what the ‘better picture’ entails – he urged opposition supporters to remain unwavering.

He further talked about the ongoing Anti-Corruption Commission investigation into former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom over Theemuge’s – the official presidential residence – audit reports for 2007 and 2008. Mahloof said that they were politicized charges indicative of incumbent President Abdulla Yameen being threatened by Maumoon.

Mahloof also referred to the fact that Maumoon had returned to the Maldives, after a three-month stay in Singapore following the passing of his sister-in-law, amidst allegations that he would be arrested. Mahloof claimed that President Yameen saw this as a direct affront and a challenge – one that the sitting head-of-state simply cannot ‘digest’.
