President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the badminton tournament Maldives International Challenge 2022.

President Solih inaugurated the Maldives International Challenge 2022 on Tuesday morning.

The badminton tournament is endorsed by Badminton Asia and the Badminton World Federation. The Badminton Association of Maldives organized the tournament, to be held at Malé Sports Complex.

Badminton players from 25 countries will be participating in this tournament, featuring top-ranking players around the world.

Promoting the Maldives as a destination for international sporting events was a Presidential pledge. The main goal of this pledge is to allow Maldivian athletes to compete in international tournaments, while promoting the Maldives as a sports tourism destination.

This is the seventh international competition Maldives is hosting this year.

The sixth international competition was Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Maldives Challenge 2022, which was held from 13 October to 16 October at Sun Island Resort & Spa.

The tournament was jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, The International Volleyball Federation and Volleyball Association of Maldives.

This was one of the highest-ranked sporting event hosted in the Maldives. The tournament featured world-class players from 28 countries.
