President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih attended the opening ceremony of the South Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship 2022.

The opening ceremony of the South Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship 2022 was held at the indoor hall of the Social Center on Monday night.

At the ceremony President Solih met with the men’s and women’s national teams competing in the tournament and watched the doubles game between the Maldivian and Bangladeshi sides and the Maldives vs Sri Lanka doubles game.

Previously he met with the  Maldivian men's and women's table tennis teams competing in the competition and pledged to further develop table tennis as a competitive sport in the Maldives.

During this meeting, the president highlighted that table tennis could be developed further as a competitive sport in the Maldives and pledged his administration’s support and commitment to do so.

The president encouraged them to perform well, give it their best and wished them success in the tournament.

The South Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship 2022 is held in Malé City from May 9 to May 12, 2022.

Players from the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan compete in the championship.
