President Ibrahim Mohamed has stated that relationship between Maldives and Kazakhstan has improved significantly over the past few years.
President Solih stated this in a meeting held at the President's Office after the new Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Maldives, Nurlan Zhalgasbayev, presented his credentials to the President.
The Ambassador presented his credentials in ceremony held at the President's Office, on Monday.
President Solih welcomed Kazakhstan's new ambassador to the Maldives and congratulated him on his new appointment.
Noting that this year marks the 22nd anniversary of establishing bilateral relations between Maldives and Kazakhstan President Solih emphasized that cooperation between the two countries has significantly improved over the years, including people-to-people contact.
The President and Ambassador discussed various topics of mutual interest, including establishing honorary consuls and increasing cooperation in tourism, fisheries, trade, and investment.
Speaking with the President, Ambassador Zhalgasbayev highlighted that the two countries have a history of support and cooperation in various areas of mutual interest and noted there has been an increase in the number of Kazakh tourists visiting the Maldives.
At the meeting both the President and the Ambassador expressed their commitment to strengthening the long-standing bilateral relationship between the two countries.
