The Maldives Police Service has no comments to make regarding this week’s break-in at the Elections Commission’s headquarters in capital city Malé.

An official from the Police told RaajjeMV on Tuesday that he currently has no comment to make and would ‘call back’ after looking into the matter.

RaajjeMV had asked for whether or not the investigation has amounted to any arrests or any other similar non-detailed updates.

The theft was discovered when Elections Commission staff began work on Sunday.

Ahmed Akram, a member of the commission, said that the thieves had entered broken down the front door, and said a large amount of money had been stolen from the safe.

The office is located on the fifth floor of the Ports Building, which has CCTV cameras placed outside, and a security officer stationed at the entrance.
