Police officers construct mosque in Dhoonidhoo
The mosque was inaugrated by Minister of Home Affairs Azleen Ahmed, Islamic Minister Ahmed Ziyad and Deputy Police Commissioner Ahmed Saeed
The inauguration was attended by several officers of the police service
Officers at Dhoonidhoo prison, the marine police, and Central Operations Command had begun constructing the mosque on the 6th of March

The government has opened a mosque in Dhoonidhoo island of Kaafu atoll, which is primarily used as a ground for one of country’s larger prisons, especially for police officers and visitors.

The mosque was inaugrated by Minister of Home Affairs Azleen Ahmed, Islamic Minister Ahmed Ziyad and Deputy Police Commissioner Ahmed Saeed. 

Home Minister Azleen had commended those that had worked in building the mosque, and applauded it as a testament to the Maldives Police Service’s respect for Islam.

Islamic Minister Ahmed Ziyad said that the construction of the mosque bolsters the government’s intent to instill religious steadfastness in state officials. 

The inauguration was attended by several officers of the police service. 

The construction of the mosque, which had cost about MVR 3 million, was funded by well-wishers, and it can accommodate 250 people offering salat at once. 

Officers at Dhoonidhoo prison, the marine police, and Central Operations Command had begun constructing the mosque on the 6th of March. It was completed within 2 months and 19 days.
