Privatization Board refutes reports of Aasandha Managing Director's termination

The privatization board, the government structure regulating public sector companies, has refuted reports in local media that the managing director of the Aasandha Company had been terminated.
Several local papers had published stories claiming that Maumoon Abdul Samad, the company’s long standing director had been removed from his position.
However, the privatization board’s chairman, Mohamed Nizar, had reiterated that the heads of public sector companies can only be removed by them. As such, there has been no discussions calling to remove Maumoon, nor has he been sent any documents stating so.
Aasandha’s most controversial decision as of late was to suspend Maldives’ universal health care scheme to health facilities not owned by the state.
The Aasandha Company, operated under NSPA, had withdrawn its decision shortly after and the President’s Office had absolved itself of any responsibility in the decision claiming that it had not even been informed of it.
