Abdulla Mueed Hassan, the chair of the Maldives Media Council (MMC), has been removed from state employment. 

RaajjeMV understands that Mueed has lost his position as the chief architect for the Housing Ministry. 

The MMC has faced criticism for a decision it made on Sunday, with some demandin Mueed’s resignation after the council sent letters to several journalists in a number of media outlets informing them of allegations made on behalf of First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim.

The President’s Office had refuted this shortly after, claiming that no such claims had been made.
