A Maldivian pilot from Villa Air’s Flyme airline has passed away.

Sanoon Naseer, 35 and native to Hithadhoo district of southernmost Addu City, was found dead outside his residence in the capital's suburban district Hulhumalé, at around 3:30am on Saturday.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they received a report of an unconscious man lying outside a housing unit in Hulhumalé, a little past 3am on Saturday.

The authority cited Hulhumalé Hospital having pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Further investigations are being conducted into the death of the young pilot employed at Villa Air which operates Flyme and is a subsidiary company of business tycoon Qasim Ibrahim’s Villa Group.

Authorities have since revealed that samples were taken from the deceased, as per protocol. However, the results are yet to come through.

Sanoon’s funeral prayer will be held at Aasahara Mosque after Maghreb prayer, where his body has now been moved.

Sanoon is survived by his wife and child.
