A migrant worker, reported missing at sea late Friday, has been found dead.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) revealed that the migrant worker’s body was found 51 meters under water a little past 12am on Saturday.

Initially, the MNDF’s Malé area coastguard squadron began searching for the individual a little past 10pm on Friday, after the MNDF CG received reports of the Indian national having gone missing after falling into the water, off a boat anchored north of Thilafushi island, “Gas Atlantic”.

Two migrant workers reportedly fell into the water and one of them was rescued by fishermen in a dinghy, in the region.

The rescued individual has been taken to Villimalé Hospital for treatment.
