Educators are pivotal to build productive generations of youth vital for the society’s progress, says Vice President Faisal Naseem.

The vice president made this statement at the official ceremony held at Iskandhar School on Thursday night to mark the inauguration of the "Principals’ Scholarship Scheme”, initiated by the Ministry of Education.

Taking the podium, VP Naseem stressed on the important role played by educators in building productive generations of youth that are required for the society to progress especially in a small archipelago nation such as the Maldives.

Going on to reiterate President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s commitment to develop the education sector and strengthen the quality of education especially through developing infrastructure and training human resources, the vice president noted that professional development opportunities for educators have been rare in the past.

With this being said, he shed light on the importance of ensuring such professional development programmes continue from now.

VP Naseem dubbed principals to be team leaders responsible for educational institutions and urged them to show active leadership by listening to their students and promoting cooperation in the faculties.

During his speech the vice president also shed light on some of the efforts made by the administration to identify and address concerns and issues facing schools nationwide.

Assuring the administration’s commitment to work towards addressing concerns and challenges facing the education sector, VP Naseem extended his admiration and gratitude to the employees of the sector, who have been working hard with dedication.
