The Presidential Commission on Disappearances and Deaths summoned former council member of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Zahid Rameez and took his statement on Wednesday.
Zahid was summoned for questioning over the death threats he had sent to murdered blogger and social media activist Yameen Rasheed, in 2011 and 2012.
The commission stated that Zahid had posted death threats on twitter in 2011 and 2012 and warned that threatening to kill a person is a serious offense under the law.
The commission stated that legal consequences will be followed and urged everyone to refrain from resorting to such acts on online platforms or elsewhere.

The commission is currently looking into 25 such cases dated between 2012 and 2018.
Zahid’s case was filed during the previous administration of President Abdulla Yameen as well, however, the police service has not revealed their findings in the case.
