As forecasters predict blistering hot weather across the country, Health Protection Agency (HPA) has advised the public to take measures as it can be a health risk.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the agency said that the whole country has been experiencing “unusually” hot weather and asked the public to take measures to avoid health risks.

Some health concerns highlighted include dehydration, headaches, dizziness, muscle cramps and eye strain.

“If you are experiencing any of these, go to a cool or air-conditioned environment,” said HPA, adding that medical attention should be sought if the symptoms do not go away.

HPA further noted that the current weather could lead to skin issues as well.

To avoid such cases, HPA advises to wear clothes that are light colored and loose, as well as to use sun block and cover exposed skin.

Other tips include, limiting outdoor activity at peak times, staying hydrated and staying away from caffeinated beverages as they can make you more dehydrated.
