Bank of Maldives (BML) has on Tuesday launched 'BML Cashless Ride'.
According to BML, its Cashless Ride- a part of the bank's 'Aharenge Bank' campaign- is "a convenient way for [its] customers to pay for taxi using their debit and credit cards."
"The new service will feature Point-of-Sale terminals specially fitted for taxis," said BML.
Customers will be able to pay using any card accepted by the Bank, and they will, in turn, be issued with a printed receipt to confirm their transaction. Customers will also have the option of paying for their ride using BML MobilePay, the Bank’s contactless payment service, said BML.
Speaking regarding the bank's new service, BML:'s deputy CEO and Director of Operations, Mohamed Shareef said that the the "convenient new service" will facilitate "quick and secure payments."
"We believe that our customers will benefit from the option of not having to count out cash and wait for their change at the end of a taxi journey, especially given how busy the roads can get," said Shareef.
BML launched its "Aharenge Bank" campaign earlier in February, an extensive program of initiatives to support local communities.
