A couple from Philippines, on their honeymoon in Maldives, have drowned in Dhiffushi island of Kaafu atoll.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) reported that a 29-year-old female and 30-year-old male had drowned in Dhiffushi, close to Meeru Fenfushi island.

They were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Dhiffushi hospital, revealed the MPS.

A source from the island told RaajjeMV that the man had begun drowning at first. The woman had called out for help having spotted him drowning. However, by the time someone had reached them on a dinghy, they were both motionless.

RaajjeMV understands that their first destination was Maldives, for their honeymoon.
