Celebrated television host and member of the state broadcaster Public Service Media (PSM)’s board, Mariyam Waheeda has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of Sweden to the Maldives.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the appointment via twitter on Thursday, publicizing pictures of Minister Abdulla Shahid presenting Waheeda with the exequatur to assume office.
After the meeting held at the Ministry to officially present Waheeda with the exequatur, Minister Shahid took to twitter, saying that it was a "great pleasure" to issue her the exequatur.
Furthermore, the Ministry’s tweet reads that the pair had discussed Waheeda’s role as the new Honorary Consul in strengthening existing relations between Sweden and Maldives.
Waheeda was appointed as a board member at PSM quite recently.
She previously served as a member of the Maldives National Broadcasting Corporation (MNBC) established during the administration of former President Mohamed Nasheed.
